The jade is not jadeite or "A" jade found in jewelry. I do not think this stone has been color enhanced because I tested it and the color did not remove from the portions tested. Portions of the carving has a creamy green translucent appearance.

• Beautiful Red Jade Stone Japanese Lantern carving. Very ornate with exquisite detailed craftsmanship from a master carver. Inlaid bronze Ancient Oriental symbols.
• CONDITION: Excellent condition! Unknown age. The ancient symbols were carved by an artisan who used symbology correct for the era being reproduced. Carved from a good carving quality red jade. There does not appear to be any markings of the artist.
• MEASUREMENTS: About 26" H x 9.5" D. This is a tall sculpture and weighs about 30 pounds.
• CARE: It is important to care for your jade carvings by wiping them down with a beeswax on a regular basis. I also recommend that you keep a small glass of water in your curio cabinets where you display your carvings to add moisture to the air. Do not display in a harsh sunlight.
